Spatula Stuhhi embodies the purest expression of classical Venetian plastering. This ecological formulation of lime and marble dust follows the time-honored three-coat technique that Venetian master plasterers have perfected over centuries. Each layer serves a distinct purpose in building a surface of remarkable depth and inner luminosity — a quality that no modern shortcut can replicate and that distinguishes true Venetian plaster from all imitations.
The magic of Spatula Stuhhi unfolds across its three coats. The first establishes a solid, well-bonded foundation. The second introduces the interplay of light and shadow through carefully varied trowel strokes, creating the characteristic movement and depth. The final coat is where artistry reaches its peak: applied in thin, deliberate passes and then burnished to a lustrous finish, it locks in the layers beneath and produces a surface that seems to glow from within. The depth of the finish reveals new facets with every change of light and viewing angle.
Crafted from natural lime and select marble dust, Spatula Stuhhi is inherently breathable, anti-mildew, and ecological — qualities that make it ideal for both historic restoration and contemporary design. Available in a wide range of colors, each hue takes on a unique character when filtered through the translucent layers of the three-coat system. Washable and enduring, Spatula Stuhhi is for those who value the irreplaceable beauty of handcrafted surfaces and the enduring legacy of Italian artisanal tradition.

Step 1
The substrate must be clean, stable, and primed. Repair all imperfections and ensure the surface is fully cured and dry before beginning.
Step 2
Apply the first coat with a stainless steel venetian trowel in thin, even passes. This layer establishes adhesion and provides the structural foundation for subsequent coats. Allow to dry for 12-24 hours.
Step 3
Apply the second coat in varied, overlapping trowel strokes to begin creating the characteristic depth and movement of Venetian plaster. Vary pressure and direction to introduce the interplay of light and shadow. Allow to dry for 12-24 hours.
Step 4
Apply a very thin final coat with precise, deliberate trowel passes. While the surface is still slightly damp, burnish firmly with the flat of the trowel using smooth, sweeping strokes. The friction compresses the lime and marble particles, producing the signature lustrous, light-catching finish.
Step 5
Allow 48-72 hours for initial curing. The plaster will continue to harden and develop its full translucency and depth as the lime carbonates over the following weeks.
